Toot, Toot

Excuse me while I toot my own horn, but it's only cause I am excited!
Three of my photos I took of the town of Easton were accepted by the Historical Society
here and will be in their brochures & in their permanent collection.
They have also asked for photos of specific attractions. Working on those today.
Also a couple months ago some of my photos from the Beaufort Food & and Wine Weekend
were featured in Metro Magazine in Raliegh ! How cool is that!
I feel so honored to have my name mentioned for my photography.
Especially since photography is something that I feel very passionate about and enjoy!
Trying to get my hands on everything involving photography that I can. For the experience.
I just this week booked 2 weddings for this summer, one of which her original photographer fell thru last minute. Her wedding is in 3 weeks! The other is for a friend that I grew up with. So excited to do both!

Tour of Eastern Shore of VA

Pocomoke City
Pocomoke City

Parksley
Wachapeague
Exmore
I so wanted these napkin holders, Old diner turned into a antique store (Exmore)
Love how they displayed the match holders., What a great idea for display a collection
I bought one for my Etsy shop. (Parksley)
Cool little kids VW Bug toy found at a weird flea market place that offered helicopter rides
So wanted this table, painted in my favorite color. Too bad I don't have a place to put it.

We had a great time on saturday, touring & exploring the Eastern Shore of Virginia
Visited a couple flea markets & a ton of antique stores.
Fell in love with some of the charming hidden towns.
Top on my list was Onancock, beautiful little waterfront town
with a old movie theater that has been restored and they still show movies.
Didn't get many pictures too busy enjoying the sights.
My second favorite was Parksley, which was another charming railroad town
with huge victorian houses. There was an awesome antique store there with
great prices. Definatly need to go back soon.
The place was for sale too.  I could totally see myself owning an antique store.
We had lunch at the Exmore Diner a must stop on our trip.
We all had Crab Cake Sandwiches and chocolate shakes... yummm
Then we all wanted to take a nap...
We had a great time just getting away for the day. No time schedule
No set itinerary just exploring.

Weed bouquets

Happy Friday!
It's been a crazy week so ready for the weekend.
Sharing some pics of my weed bouquet maker.
She was so into pulling those weeds. She worked her little butt off trying to get everyone she could.
I took her yesterday to check out her new Daycare center and she had a ball she loved it.
Made me feel so good. I think this is going to be great for her.
It will be sad to leave her home daycare which has been fine.
But I think it's time for something else, something more.
To have more interaction with kids her age, structured learning
Last night she started with a little summer cold., and has been in a grumpy mood
up coughing and sneezing.. poor baby

Check my Hydrangeas! Sorry I am so proud, it's the one plant that I haven't managed to kill yet.
This years blooms are a mixture of pink & blue. Last years were mostly just blue.
I have noticed a ton of baby praying matis they are everywhere I think that's a good thing.
Except when they get on my butterfly bush and sniper the butterflies..

Planning on another giveaway for my 200th post.
stay tuned

Vote for me, Vote of me

Pretty Please
Vote for my goofy picture of baby Maddie.
What a great mom posting a picture of her baby with a block shoved in her mouth.
No she didn't choke & No I didn't shove it in her mouth...lol
We were on our way to daycare and I heard ummm ummm ummm
car seat mirror tilted down as usual. Opened the door to get her out at daycare and
this is what I found. So instead of rushing to get the block out of her mouth.
I grabbed my point and shoot out of purse.. Nice I know...
I think my favorite thing about this picture is her eyes that expression.
Like she says dang mom could you help me out here or what!!!
I saw this contest on Joy's Hope and she won how awesome is that. I have to try it!

If my picture makes you smile
Please vote for it here
Help me win an Ipad!!

Blooms & Babbles

Alot of blooming flowers at our place this week.
So excited to see my daisies coming up.
Maddie loves to help me water the flowers (or should I say water the mulch)
But most of the time she's too busy playing in the birdbath.

Busy putting together a photo book for the 80th b-day (cowboy) party I shot a couple weeks ago.
Did manage to clean up my sewing desk, and organize some stuff.3
Other than that it's been way too hot to do much outside

Heading out and about this weekend with my hubby & my parents.
We are exploring the Eastern Shore of VA
We always travel thru the Eastern Shore of VA to cross the Bay Bridge Tunnel
to make way to see my brother in NC. But we never get much time to explore.
So for Christmas I gave my parents a letter with a brochure explaining that
we would take them on a day exploring with lunch & stuff.
Sounds weird I know but I thought they would enjoy it.
Especially my Dad  who's a fellow junk/antique/yard saleing hunter.
The Eastern Shore of VA is full of tons of old railroad towns,
abandoned buildings, flea markets/antique stores, vineyards
plus whatever else we can find/get into.
Most excited to explore Onancock , Cape Charles and Exmore

Quilted treasures

I have had these quilts for a long while. My father gave them to me.
I can not remember exactly when he gave them to me.
They were my grandmothers and great grandmothers.
I stuffed them in a Rubbermaid box as I knew they were old and didn't want them to get messed up
Plus I didn't know how to display them.
I am in love with quilts and have an appreciation of them more so than before.
Plus these are close to my heart too sine someone in the family made them.
I have been pouring over the pages of Etsy, and dying to come across one at a yard sale.
I have also been wanting to make Maddie one. But that's another story.
I thought the other day, where are those quilts Dad gave me ?
I combed all of the closets and under the bed and finally found them.
The box smelled musty when I opened it.
A couple of them look like they would fall apart if I opened them.
I am so sadden I don't know if storing them in the air tight box made them deterate (spelling?)
sooner or if they've been that way.
I haven't opened any of them up all of the way yet.
Pulled them right out of the box and took photos.
I looked up on the internet about preserving quilts.
Good Ol Martha Stewart says to store in an acid free cardboard box
with tissue paper in between the folds. And to take out every 4-6 months
and refold so the creases don't stay.
Anyone have any other recommendations for quilt care ?
